Biography
As a former professional dancer and singer with over 25 years of teaching experience, Sarah brings a deep wealth of knowledge and passion to her classes. Having taught in both studios and college settings, she’s mastered a wide range of genres while crafting her own innovative training programs that merge the best of English and American techniques in ballet, jazz, and tap.
Sarah’s unique, multi-disciplinary approach encourages students to discover the threads that link all their genres, helping them flow seamlessly from one class to another. She’s not just focused on technical excellence, Sarah sparks creativity, emphasizing personal style and performance artistry. Her classrooms are safe, collaborative spaces where students can freely explore and experiment, leaving behind fear of failure to find their true artistic voice.
Passionate about nurturing not only dancers but the people behind the art, Sarah is an advocate for mental well-being in dance. She’s an active member of Danscend Council, pushing for healthier training environments that honour the whole dancer. Her experience with neurodiverse dancers makes her especially attuned to individual needs, and she readily adapts her teaching to create a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone.
An active voice for change in the dance world, Sarah is dedicated to making the industry more inclusive and respectful. She’s an alumnus of the Roots, Rhythm, Race, and Dance program, which brings Black dance history into the studio, allowing students to connect with the cultural roots of jazz and enrich their understanding of its legacy.
With a strong background in dance science as a member of the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science, Sarah is skilled at guiding young dancers through their developmental stages and overcoming any physical challenges they face. Certified in Progressing Ballet Technique, she’s recently launched an injury prevention program for vocational students, ensuring they stay strong and healthy.
Sarah has had the privilege of teaching alongside some of the industry’s most respected educators, continually pushing her own boundaries through advanced training, including studying with world-class choreographers at the Broadway Dance Center in New York.
Her students thrive under her coaching, achieving success in exams and national competitions such as UK Young Dancer and All England, and gaining placements at prestigious institutions including the Royal Ballet School Associates, Tring Classical Ballet Academy, Central School of Ballet, Trinity Laban Conservatoire, Bird College, and Laine Theatre Arts. With her mentorship, students are not only making their mark on stages worldwide but are also becoming the next generation of teachers and mentors.
